Sleeping With Dogs Maintain Good Sleep Efficiency
A study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings suggest that human with a single dog in their bedroom maintained good sleep efficiency.
The study included 40 healthy adults without sleep disorders and their dogs. Every dog age is no less than 6 month.
Every participant wore an accelerometer and their dog a validated dog accelerometer for 7 nights.
Results come out of the study was really surprising. Study showed that those adults have the 88% sleep efficiency.
Dog sleep efficiency during this study found nearly more than 90% and sometimes 100%.
Human sleep efficiency was lower if the dog was on the bed as opposed to simply in the room.
Scientists concluded that human with a single dog in their bedroom maintained good sleep efficiency, however, the dog’s position on/off the bed made a difference.
A dog’s presence in the bedroom may not be disruptive to human sleep, as was previously suspected.
