Having just finished my GCSE exams and left the revision for each subject for 9pm the night before, I can sympathise with Tristan on so many levels.
I think Tristan is an icon for all harried university students everywhere. I know I often studied the way he probably does when I was in college (and the revising papers the night before they are due is an extremely familiar experience to me).
I don’t know why, but I just find the way that Mrs. Burns keeps trying to get a better look at Helen in bed a little disquieting....
James should keep this moment in mind whenever he is tempted to complain about Granville Bennett....
You know, Tristan, you could have gotten out of this drill session if you had just allowed Siegfried to indulge his fit of temper and stop the proceedings. The fact that Tris doesn’t do that fits in well with my thought that he knows that Siegfried is sincerely trying to help him.
On a side note, I don’t tend to use the phrase “puppy dog looks” when describing Davison’s expressions (even though I know it’s popular), but I don’t know how else to describe that look on Tristan’s face.
Meanwhile, it says a lot about how much Tristan passing his exams means to Siegfried when he’s so eager to accept Tristan’s apology and continue.
Although, I did think how they did the close up on Siegfried patting Tristan’s arm was a bit odd. Then again, the way it was filmed makes the gesture look like an adult is reassuring and reaching for a young person’s hand, so maybe that was the intent?
“Oh don’t worry Mrs. Allen. She’ll do as she’s told...if she knows what’s good for her...”
Yeah....some jokes don’t age well, do they?
Although, I am amused that Helen’s expression was very similar to mine in response to that comment.
Tristan looks surprisingly dejected that Siegfried walked out without any sign that he was paying attention to his announcement about his exams.
Don’t worry, Tris. Sometimes, it just takes a few seconds for things to register with Siegfried....
