Finding the Followers

Valentine had told her that if she needed him, she just had to follow the signs in Diamond City to find his office. While she had jokingly nicknamed him “Holmes” because of his outfit, she didn’t actually expect him to be a detective.

She opened the door a crack and poked her head in, hood and coat dripping wet from the rain outside. She made an attempt to wipe the mud off her boots on the welcome mat before entering, but she wound up tracking it in anyway despite her best efforts.

She looked over at the two desks, noticing a woman in a skirt, and the familiar cybernetic man she had met outside of Diamond City a few days ago. “Uh, hey Holmes...” she began. “I mean uh... Mr. and Ms. Valentine.” She assumed the woman was his wife, for whatever crazy reason, it made sense in her brain for the only woman living in his home to be of that relation.

“I uh... you guys... you aren’t too busy, are you?”

Man, K hated going to Diamond City.

This place was so obnoxious and sanctimonious. This was still a place in the fucking wastelands right? Why the fuck was everybody acting like they were so much better because they lived in one hellhole over another.

That wasn’t just because he had gotten kicked out of yet another store for being too loud. No, that was just the icing on the cake of this TERRIBLE, SELF RIGHTEOUS PLACE.

In his huff he almost slammed into a person, and that was enough to get him hollering even more.

“HEY WATCH IT YOU FUCKING CLOW-”

He stopped dead in his tracks when he noticed who he was screaming at.

“Hey aren’t you Nick Valentine... Also.. Who fucked you up?”

“Don’t go in there, Holmes!” Thewoman sitting by a cooking fire barked, seeing the back of a man in a trench coat and fedora, looking like one of those detectives from the old movies.

“There’s a Deathclaw holed up in that building, I tripped the door with a couple of explosives too-- second you open it up, it’ll blast ya to the moon.” She stirred the pot around a bit, the carrot soup she was making was almost finished.

“Th’ Mayor  hired me to take care of it, so I’m waiting for it to come out through the only exit it can fit through and blow itself up. I’m really just here to keep people away from it.”
