also, fun fact: Dani has a sourdough starter that she feeds with razorgrain flour. It makes damn fine bread when she has access to a proper oven, too. If she knows she's not going to be able to maintain it for a while, she'll dry out bits of the starter to make a new one out of later.

Thunk-thonk. A yelp as the signal cleared up and Dani bashed her head on the underside of the table as she straightened. She scrabbled to snag the radio, adjusting something with a frown. "Test-test, Mary had a little brahmin" A roll of her eyes at her own dumb joke. "Dani Amsel's Sparklin' Salvage and Repair Business passing through. How's the weather out there, other than dusty, I presume? You got tech in need of repair or packages needing delivering, we'll do out damndest!"

"Food? Sister, before the bombs, I had a friend who was a firefighter. Those guys NEVER fuck around when it comes to food, and I've kept that tradition. Come on down, ain't much Nuka but I got a crate of Sunsets from home if you'd like."

A lighter chuckle on the other side, along with rustling of papers.

"You can find me quick, just look for the tower. I'll start on some Yao Guai Ribs for ya. My treat. Just gotta find the recipe..."

Her voice perks up at that "Yeah, definitely. We'll be headed that way. If you see a cart pulled by a sentry bot approaching, don't flip. Sparkles doesn't mean any trouble for nobody who ain't starting trouble. I'm just better at making sure fusion cores are maintaining charge than keeping track of critters."

It'll take a bit, but they'll find their way there.

"Surprisingly clear, despite the name. Good day to die hard, at the least. No, I don't need any repairs or deliveries... although, I could use a holotape if you have any spare or junk ones lying around. Helps me add fresh music."

The voice on the other end was far more crisp than the usual voices on a Ham Radio. The barely-heard tones of an unknown song echoed in the background. The music was wholly unique, a familiar genre but with a spin on it. Perhaps his time is usually spent as the local radio host?

There's a distinct pause on the line as the woman rummages in her storage. "Got a few tapes we can trade in to ya, some are recordings and logs, but I've transcribed most of them so they should be okay to record over."

A second of humming "You ain't using pre-war recordings, huh? That's real neat! People makin' art is a damn fine thing to see.... well, hear."

"Oh, no, don't get things twisted, I do use pre-war recordings. I need the tapes to transfer my old collection."

There was a chuckle on the other line, followed by the light clinking of a Caps Stash being pulled out from under the fellow's desk.

"How much I owe ya for them?"

A laugh across the airwaves. "Aw damn, and here i was hoping I'd get some new recordings to listen to when I'm in deadzones."

"Mmm... Well, how's this. I'll discount you if you CAN give me some things to listen to if I travel outside of broadcast territory. I'll even provide the extra holotapes. As well, I'm in the market for a bit of food or a nuka or two. Caps-wise.... negotiable."

A sharp laugh as she lowered her gun slightly. ".... Shit. I'm real sorry if you weren't looking for trouble. We ran into some fuckers who didn't know better yesterday and I'm still on-edge. I mean, if you ARE looking to start shit, I'm willing to end it."

The flower-painted sentry bot at her back was the more obvious threat, but an itchy trigger finger was never anything to sneeze at. "But seriously, I don't wanna waste ammo on you right now?"

A slightly pleading expression.

(Tempted to make Dani's primary weapon this baby. It's the gauss shotgun from Fallout 76 with an extended barrel. Her weapon when she's not hauling this around is a suppressed combat shotgun)

((Since it's been so long since i first made Dani (literally 10 years), I'm wondering if I should rework her lore some. I know there's a vault in 76 that's similar to the Ark "vault" that she's from, even if Nanta wasn't Vault-tec affiliated and more meant to preserve specimens, and the "trying to reverse the damage the bombs and stuff actually did to critters" came later, and they didn't have an AI giving them insurmountable quotas and stuff))
