It was way too easy to fall into old patterns, especially with old acquaintances. Acquaintances, because there was no way Tommy would ever refer to Kenneth fucking Wheeler as a friend. They’d been in the same grade all their life, but while Tommy had struggled through most of school, Kenny had always gotten the grades, he had the involved parents, the nice house, the money to go to college, ... Everything that Tommy would make fun of – but desperately want.

“Do you ever think before you speak, Wheeler? You should fucking try it.” Insults had always given him a sense of superiority when he’d felt powerless.

she  hadn't  been  home  long  when  she  snagged  a  job  at  the  mall.  something  she  wasn't  exactly  planning  on  but  she  needed  the  money  and  after  her  first  day,  she  was  definitely  regretting  all  of  her  life  choices.  

it  was  rather  late,  but  she  was  hungry  so  she  stopped  by  the  diner  to  grab  a  burger  and  she  saw  someone  she  hadn't  seen  in  what  seemed  like  forever.  ❝  kenny?  ❞  brows  furrowed  a  bit  and  she  quickly  took  off  her  nametag  from  work  and  stuffed  it  in  her  pocket  before  she  looked  at  her  watch.  ❝  isn't  it  a  little  past  your  bedtime?  ❞  she  teased  lightly  as  she  slipped  into  the  booth  across  from  him.
