What we have in common
Bumblebee stared at his now human hand. He never felt this helpless before. Trapped in this plasma cell with no means of escape with his only companion currently being Starscream, who was in a cell directly next to him. However Starscream barely spoke to him or even looked at him.
It was sort of a shock seeing Starscream in his own human shell. He looked older than either Dot, Alex or even Dr. Meridian possibly, in human years, in his 50s. His skin was a dark tan. His hair was black with some grey and his eyes glowed blue. Well the eyes weren't that much of a surprise since Bee's was the same. What was surprising was the quiet. No accusations, no yelling or screaming just quiet.
"So um Screamer."
Still nothing.
"Ya know, he he, it's funny how you seem to be the silent type now. I mean you used to be more menacing back in the day even when you were at GHOST. But now it seems that you're more....uh."
He doesn't know why he's talking so much. Okay maybe he did know but come on he's not going to admit out loud that he's lonely and prefers company that wasn't Poseidon. He'd take Shockwave at this point well okay no wait Shockwave was worse nevermind. He'd take Swindle at this point. He would wish for Optimus to speak with him again, but he knew better than that.
"You know it's funny. Optimus trusted Poseidon with all his spark-"
"Just like GHOST."
Bumblebee blinked. He got interrupted by Screamer. He finally got a response a conversation. His eyes dropped to the floor not wishing to make eye contact.
"Yeah just like GHOST."
"Someone who the "Good Doctor" is in league with. Yeah big surprise that Optimus put his trust in the two things that are now keeping us prisoner torturing us and experimenting on us."
"Since when did GHOST-"
"What the frag do you think they were doing behind closed doors bug. In fact why are you even questioning it you were there! Oh wait I forgot you got special treatment because you're Bumblebee."
Bumblebee couldn't really make a retort to that as much as he wanted to.
"As much as I hate the man he is right about one thing. As much as you Autobots praise the oh so Glorious Megatron for turning his back on the cause he started, you really didn't even try to-"
"Listen."
It was now Bumblebee's turn to interrupt.
"I get why you're all upset. I get it. I've been wanting to point out the Autobots' hypocrisy for years-'
"By being Optimus and now Megatron's lapdog."
"No! Urgh!"
Bumblebee now understood the human cartoons where characters tear their hair in frustration. Because he wanted to do that with his own hair. He let out a humorless chuckle though as he remembered how things were now with him and Optimus.
"Humans actually interact with their lapdogs. It's strange. Optimus sends me away practically faking my death for 50 years never calls me then one day he wants me to mentor these weird newsparks. Then whenever I try to interact with him it's like I'm annoying him or something and it's like everything I do isn't-"
"Enough."
Bumblebee stopped. He looked at Starscream. Starscream's face was tired but there was one thing that shone through.
Understanding.
He let out his own chuckle.
"It was like that with me and Megatron at first. It didn't matter how much I did it was never enough. It was then that I thought why keep being loyal to someone who will never listen or respect you. Why not make them listen to you. And then I guess you can understand where that went."
Bumblebee didn't have to answer that.
"Out of everything. Who knew we had that in common."
(Friendship starting in a terrible situation got a love it!)
