“You know, you’re really cute.” -Slightly
As she found her cheeks heating up at the comment, Mei couldn’t help but shift her gaze away from him at the same time. Wow. He actually called her cute, and she almost didn’t want to believe it. As if having him hold her hand earlier wasn’t enough, now he doubled down and complimented her appearance? This should be a big deal for Mei, and in a way it still was. After all, it wasn’t everyday for her to have the guy she's been crushing on for a good while now, and who she thought would never actually get to know her existence because why would he when he’s life is so much cooler when compared to Mei’s, go up to her and call her cute! Really, a part of her wanted to stutter out a "thank you” while her heart most likely would’ve been beating so rapidly to the point where the only thing she would’ve then worried about was the risk of transforming in front of all these people. And honestly, that is what would’ve most likely happened— if she hadn’t witnessed Slightly serenading someone else and then watching him run after her.
Really, if anything it makes complete and total sense that he was already into someone else. Why wouldn’t he be? In Mei’s eyes, Slightly was practically a rockstar! Someone who can have whoever he wanted and who probably already had so many girls and guys lining up just to be with him. She was just one of many within the bunch, and as much as the redhead was into him— it was just a crush. A measly tiny little crush that would go away at some point one day…. is what she always told herself. “Thanks…” She finally spoke with a small smile, pushing a few random strands of her hair behind her ear as she still didn’t look at him.. Calling her cute aside, she also couldn’t help but wonder why he even was here talking to her in the first place? Calling her cute in the first place? Shouldn’t he be with that other girl? Then with a shake of her head, Mei concluded that it wasn’t any of her business.
But as she finally looked back up at him, that was when the redhead noticed the obvious glazed look within his eyes as a sign that he must’ve been drinking white a lot this entire time. Her smile became a more faced. Oh— now it made sense to why he said that to her. The realization didn’t sit well with her, but instead of commenting on his current state, the redhead instead chose to try and turn this situation into a lighter one. “Think I’m cute now? You should see me in the panda suit I have to wear whenever I’m a work! You’ll think I’m adorable then!” She joked. Know what? Getting drunk herself didn’t sound so bad now that she thought about it.
