Slime mimics (commonly referred to as "slimics") are a subspecies of slimes that live inside objects like a shell. When threatened or simply wanting to move about they usually (but not always) break up the object and wear it like armor. When hiding or sleeping they fit the pieces back together. This has lead to some confusion at times, is that a giant snail or just a slime in a shell?
Slimics are often very docile but dislike it when people mess with their “shell” making dungeon slimics particularly an issue since they prefer chests, pots, and other containers most adventurers look for.
Slimics very in slime types, from your typical slime, to humanoid goo, to bone slimes, to even elemental slimes. There’s no single type of slime that prefers a shell but those who do are just simply known as “slimics”
