If I remember correctly, I found out about Cassie (@/slimjawn on instagram) through seeing her creative, eye-cataching handmade pieces on models that I saw on my feed. I followed her immediately. She makes some of the most interesting pieces I’ve ever seen and sells them on her website: slowjam.bigcartel.com [all of her pieces are currently sold out.]

Here are same of her pieces:

A DENIM CORSET, made from recycled denim

which was worn by actress/singer, Keke Palmer, while she was in New York.

Keke isn’t the only singer that has worn Cassie’s designs.

One of my favorite singers, Kehlani, wore a custom ‘tie-up top’ when she performed in my hometown (Evanston, Illinois) at Northwestern University. She even used fabric that had “Oakland” printed on it to add a personal touch since that’s Kehlani’s hometown (Oakland, CA).

She made it into a really one-of-a-kind set by adding in a pair of sweatpants, made from military pants, t-shirts and thrifted sweatshirts.

And that wasn’t the last time Kehlani performed in one of Cassie’s original pieces. She also made the light olive green bralet that Kehlani wore when she performed at Powerhouse New York City.

She’s really good at making unique items but she’s also good at staying on trend. In her bio on Instagram, she calls herself a seamstress/artist and I think that’s the best way to describe her. 

She also has another page called Cassandra Evanow (@/ca.ev) and she showcases her designs on there as well. I believe it’s the official page for her brand. Be sure to take a closer look at her pieces on that page and her personal Instagram, if you’re as amazed as I am by the immense talent this woman possesses :)
