I think one of the reasons we suffer so much at work is that these semi arbitrary deadlines and bosses and pressures encourage us to shut down a large part of our humanity from bodily to emotional to spiritual functions. And so, we forget who we are.
I think that who we are is part unique, strange, and individualistic and another part is how we are connected to others in our web of relationships and ideas and projects and “work”.
Further, I think this particular style of shutting down is learned through schooling and family but it operates a bit different based on the context.
If we can open back up through art, grieving, laughing, being with others etc we can reconnect with ourselves and our web and work and life can not suck so much.
