This was a fun one to read tbh, like I’m pretty sure i read almost the entire thing (up to what is currently released anyways) in one sitting. The story follows a girl named Penny who has an intense elementary school crush, but never acted on her feelings, and then finds herself becoming college roommate with that very same girl. Penny’s character is very over-the-top with the flustered cute-shy lesbian vibes, and its rly fun to see as someone who also gets easily flustered (though not nearly as much as Penny). Midway to later in the story it is revealed that Penny is actually trans, because Penny and her roomate (*wink wink*) are considering more sexual forms of intimacy and Penny decides that it’s important to explain this information. The story then begins to discuss Penny’s transgender experience more openly after that point, additionally one of the central character is later revealed as transfem and another is listed as using they/them pronouns (secondary i think, but i dont wanna dig theough to try and find it.
I like the choice to have the trans identity be something that is so personal and doesn’t have to be shared with everyone. Like sure sometimes it’s necessary to tell people in order to be genders correctly, but its really nice to have representation of trans people just living their life and then *also* being trans as a side-note. In general I just really enjoyed the way this comic represented trans people (and am excited to see how that develop further going forward), though it is worth noting that trans identity isn’t incredibly crucial to the story so it only gets partial points for trans rep. Also a brief side note, the comic is very horny (though never directly sexually explicit) which is fine but something to be aware of.
