I’m officially a half marathoner!
A Run! A Swim!
A run and a swim in the same day! It's like I'm actually trying to try a tri!
I've just made my first, very careful and unambitious attempt at jogging since the half-marathon three weeks ago (I overloaded the tendons in my left foot, and it looked and felt very alarming for a long time).
I'm happy to report I have no pain in my foot, but it's atrocious how much my cardio level has dropped in just three weeks 😅
Anyway, I'm already hyped to get back to a(n improved) running routine, and I want to run a half again in autumn 🤩
Here is my plan in short:
- more speedwork
- strength training!
That's it.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
I did it!!!! It may not be a huge accomplishment to most but my goal was to see my mile under 15 minutes and I DID it. Both miles included 3 - 5 minutes of walking, 5 minutes as a warmup during the first mile and and a few minutes reprieve after running nonstop most of the way around the lake during the second.. I may never be fast, but this proves I CAN get faster than I was. 💚
The weather was rubbish at run o'clock. It was starting to rain and the wind was strong and blowing from the south. It was freezing and getting dark. Someone wanted my attention right when I was going to go get changed to run. I thought I would never get out the door. I felt like I was running so slow allll the way around the park. I was almost back at the office when Hubby texted that he was waiting in the carpark. I ran back up the stairs to get my stuff then ran down the back stairs to the car. I should have left my Garmin on for the downstairs run and I would have made it to 6km on the clock. Straight in the hot shower when we got home. Did I mention I don't like winter.
I’ve gotten back to running finally and I’m so glad. I missed it! Who would have thought?! I’ve been back at it for 2 weeks and I feel like I’m getting back into a rhythm again. I’m doing the ZR 5k training and that’s been a fun change of pace (and I’m back with my apocalyptic imaginary friends so it’s all good).
Anyway, I guess you can expect more running updates again, and I’m back working on my nutrition as well. I’ve been more flexible and not counting or tracking right now, but keeping meals generally low-carb about 80% of the time and that feels doable in this weird lockdown holiday season.
Also, my dog got in a fight with a raccoon last night and now he’s also quarantined. He’s not injured, is vaccinated, and will get a booster shot from the vet. But now we’re all quarantining for a while, since we also got our second round of stay-at-home orders last week. Out with a bang, 2020!
Saw this shared on my running groups page and needed to share it here!
