This painting is based on photographs I took when driving home one night in Burbank, when I saw this coyote scavenging out of the trash cans behind the grocery store.
Trash is a bit of a theme with this piece, as I rescued this canvas and frame from dumpster not far from where this guy was snacking.
FIRE DANGER ⚡ (moderately high)
I started this painting in Santa Paula, based on the landscape view from my cousin's house. The sunset lights up the mountains and reminds me of the fire that came down and decimated many houses in those hills in 2024. These fires are also displacing local wildlife including the coyotes everyone's talking about seeing more and more often in Los Angeles.
Remember - we're all connected.

Behind the scene's in the artist's (my) studio. Including an EXCLUSIVE of my reference shots. I really debated showing these because then you can play spot the differences which doesn't make me feel great- I do wish I had been more careful with the stop sign type. Regardless I'm proud of my interpretation and I think it's important to document the process!
