Pride or die 🌈🛼💗
remember that pride is still a protest
That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?
As an older queer, allow me to say: the walls of the closet are load-bearing. It is our job as a community to stand in front of that door and tell everyone who wants to peek inside to fuck off.
There are so many reasons a person may choose not to come out and there is no reason a person would owe the public or a stranger that information. Certainly it's not owed simply because someone is famous.
We have fought for decades to make it safer for people to be open and authentic about themselves, but we are not yet there. And even if we were, the closet would still be something we need to maintain for those who are not ready to reveal that part of themselves.
May we never become so obsessed with representation that we forget the sanctity of privacy.

i found a fresh dead squirrel do u think i can keep its ribcage somehow
A couple months ago I saw a weird orange streak outside my window that my brain registered as Bird in Flight, But Not a Bird We Know. Didn’t think much more of it until I looked outside and realized it was a squirrel who had ill-advisedly tried to eat the spicy noodle that is our electrical line. He was perfectly intact at the base of the pole, beautiful and sad. I thought about burying him, but I’ve had a really death-forward couple years and thought “Y’know, I just want to see what happens.” So I named him Gerald and he’s been out there in the quiet back of the house for some time now, gradually decomposing in the sun and the rain. There have been more gross phases and less gross phases and occasionally the raccoons will tussle over him and he’ll move a couple feet, but no one’s taken him away.
A few weeks ago I saw an oak titmouse flying back and forth to the fence with beakfuls of fur. I went out and sat on the steps and realized they were carefully plucking his tail for nesting material.
There’s a bit of skull starting to be visible, and I suppose he’ll just be a clean skeleton eventually, but it’s also been really fascinating to watch the world continue to act on and through and with him.

DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN
My favorite genre of self-portrait is cartoonists being bothered by their characters while trying to draw
Bill Watterson – Calvin and Hobbes (1986)
Hergé – Tintin (1947, Tintin Magazine)
Jeff Smith – Bone (1993, Bone Holiday Special)
Walt Kelly – Pogo (1950, Maclean's Magazine)
And a bonus:
Berkeley Breathed – Bloom County
for the reverse, take this image of Tove Jansson about to murder the moomin characters
Saw this post by @doppelnatur how dandelions are pretty good trans symbols and got inspired! Happy pride everyone 🏳️⚧️

there is nothing quite like asking a cat in a doorway “in or out”
The cat:
staying up really late is comforting. the world stops expecting things from you. it’s just quiet for a while.
