Adding SL16, SLQ41, or SLT1 Boards Failed on the NMS
MC-B106 Adding SL16, SLQ41, or SLT1 Boards Failed on the NMS
If the OptiX OSN 1500 used the R1CXL or R2CXL board, adding SL16, SLQ41, or SLT1 service boards failed on the NMS. The fault was rectified by adding appropriate service boards or higher-capacity cross-connect boards.
Product
OptiX OSN 1500
Fault Type
Others
Symptom
If the OptiX OSN 1500 used the R1CXL or R2CXL board, adding SL16, SLQ41, or SLT1 service boards failed on the NMS.
Cause Analysis
When the R1CXL or R2CXL was used on the OptiX OSN 1500, slots 11, 12, and 13 provided a maximum bandwidth of 622 Mbit/s, 1.25 Gbit/s, and 1.25 Gbit/s, respectively. None of these slots could provide the maximum transmission bandwidth (shown below) required by the SL16, SLQ41, or SLT1boards.
SL16 (one channel of STM-16): 1 x STM-16 = 1 x 2.5 Gbit/s = 2.5 Gbit/s
SLT1 (12 channels of STM-1): 12 x STM-1 = 12 x 155 Mbit/s = 1.86 Gbit/s
SLQ41 (four channels of STM-1/STM-4): 4 x STM-4 = 4 x 622 Mbit/s = 2.5 Gbit/s
Procedure
Used appropriate service boards or higher-capacity cross-connect boards.
NOTE:
For details about how to choose appropriate service boards, see the "Valid Slots" sections in the hardware description manual.
