^ Speedran these or else I would have died HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!
I'm back with more mixes! I'm hoping I can make this an annual thing every Friday from now on!
This is definitely a mix where the build is much more interesting than the cartoon version, cause the latter is kinda just a green slime spewing Burnard.
Day 5 of #31DaysOfHorror: Cloverfield (2008): A Found Footage Post-9/11 Kaiju Nightmare
I remember it like yesterday , I was 17 , youtube was barley a thing and I was in the theater waiting for transformer to start. Before viral marketing was routine, before every franchise had a “universe,” Cloverfield dropped a cryptic teaser with no title—just chaos in New York and a date: 1-18-2008. What followed wasn’t just a movie, but a full-blown alternate reality game that pulled fans into the shadows of Tagruato, Slusho, and a monster no one in the film could even name.
Fifteen years later, the film remains a raw, intimate kaiju nightmare—(yes its a kaiju , fight me) shot like a home video, haunted by post-9/11 dread, and elevated by a marketing campaign that didn’t just sell a story, but let you live inside it.
Was the ARG more compelling than the movie itself? Maybe. But together, they created something rare: horror that felt less like entertainment and more like testimony.
