in a flintwood mafia!au who'd be the one who scares everyone and who'd be the actually reaaaaallly scary one?
ok erin, first - how dare you. (tbh this immediately reminds me of jules’ cuddling mafia husbands hc that i want to make an edit for but i haven’t?? rip). second, ily. tysm for asking bb because wow i just thought about them like.. last week?? omg is this fate? is this the real life? is this just fantasy?
i’m gonna say they’re equally scary in their own way.
oliver is as scary as he’s charming. people love to greet him when they meet on the street, in the shop, in his club. polite to the ladies and the elderly, playful to the kids in the neighbourhood, and won’t think twice to punch the guy who’s mean to his mother (only when the woman’s back turned away, though). but the thing is, it’s different rules for his business partners. oliver is scary in the way he holds a glass of scotch in his hand, lazy smirk on his face, as realization dawn on the other person’s face; it’s either their whole life basically ruined, or if it’s more serious and oliver has reached his limit, the poison in their drink. yes. oliver hates blood, he trains his men to do it clean. but he’s also scary in the way he goes crazy in a fight, his men would say he turns into an animal. if he hates blood when he’s sane, it doesn’t matter when he finds out it trickles from his lips or his nose - he won’t stop until he’s bathed in them. oliver is scary when he sighs, “i don’t think we should do this.” a warning - there’ll always be a bloodshed. he won’t be the one that throws the first punch, but he will always be the victor. oliver is really scary because he could make every person who’s done wrong to him disappear in a second and people would still genuinely say ‘good morning, ollie’ on the street.
marcus is another story. people would avoid to look at him in the eye, but still come to him when they need ‘help’. he’s also the kind of guy that pet random cats and dogs on the street, and he gets pissed off at anyone who looks at his pet hedgehog the wrong way when they come into his office to offer a ‘proposal’ - (“this meeting is no more the moment you snort condescendingly at bobby” / “why do you give a name to it?” / “your mother calls you fucking ‘doodle’, do you see me asking?”). he plays a harmonica when he’s bored. there’s a stack of formal shoes catalogs under his coffee table because he’s mad for them. also lowkey because most people look down when they see him. marcus, unlike oliver, never gets his hands dirty. if he can help it, he would refuse to have a gun on his person at all. besides, he prefers pocket knife anyway because it’s multi-function & handy af?? there’s always a day when he raises one of his eyebrows as someone who sits in front of him talks about oliver in poor choice of words. the movement is subtle, and no one but his men would notice. the person would be found heavily injured & unconscious either in a sewer, by the riverbank, or that one time, in a dumpster the next day.marcus is really scary in the way he puffs the smoke from his lungs into the thin air, slowly, looking bored, as his enemies drop dead before they can even touch him. nobody really knows how he does that.
sometimes the two of them could be seen walking side by side on the street. oliver guffaws while marcus smirks. and no one would dare to pause to look at them - no matter how much they want.
TL;DR - marcus scares everyone but i think oliver is the one they should worry about.
