Not only is he seen as being loyal to his closest friends and family character wise, we also see many times that he works on things by hand instead of using machines because he's hard-working and believes it's better quality.

Cunning and Ambitious? Yeah, that's Yao. Sure he has his lazy moments but he's ambitious and thinks very highly of himself. Also this man would fight a tree if it dropped a leaf on him. He's five foot five of compressed hate and rage. Which I appreciate immensely.
