A Little Fear For Tobio
Tobio Kageyama x FemReader
About: A short scene of Kageyama being a little paranoid at the thought of losing you because of his love for volleyball. I relate to his character, mostly because of his passion for the thing he loves and having that determination while kinda sucking at any kind of relationships. So there's always this fear of like what if I'm not good enough for this person.
Also: there's a little hot interaction at the end with some implications of sexual interaction so be advised.
“What’s going on in that mind of yours?” You noticed him be more distant while playing a game of cards. He usually gets really into the game trying to find a way to beat you, or act like he’s not trying really hard at a silly game. However, at the moment he just continued to move his cards around in his hand looking up at you sneakily through them.
“Huh?”
You tilted your head and smiled softly while raising your eyebrow. Did he really think that was going to work? “Tobio.” You warned.
“It’s nothing,” he blushed, “nothing important.” The way you say his name, even if you say it over a billion times, is something he'll never get tired of. It eases tension and makes his heart beat in his chest.
“Well whatever it is, it’s keeping you from losing fairly. So spill it.” You pushed your cards to the side and snatched his cards away, and with a sneaky glimpse you saw he would have won easily.
“It was nothing, I don’t even know why it’s bothering me so much.” He stated but rubbed his neck in frustration. There was a frown where his small smile would be, so it alarmed you. You got closer to him, halfway straddling him, and held his face in your hands. Of course he blushed profusely.
“Come on, Tobio, tell me.” He looked back at you and stared into your eyes. Oh how much he loved those eyes. He’d fall to his knees if he wasn’t sitting down already. He warmed up with an overwhelming sense of love, so without thinking he snuggled and pulled you closer to him. His face hid in your neck as he let out a shaky breath. You were surprised firstly, but reacted by hugging him back and running your hand through his hair.
“It really was nothing,” he muffled softly, “but it started a terrifying thought.” He paused again, and you knew he was trying to find the words to explain the feeling. He sighed and pulled back from you, taking every feature of your face. You gave him a reassuring smile. “While at practice, Hinata mentioned that… that… ugh that Oikawa had been down since his girlfriend dumped him. He was spending all his free-time practicing instead of going out with her.”
“Tobio-”
“At first I was feeling bad for him, but then four-eyes said ‘That’s why us athletes can’t have a relationship- blah blah blah- it’ll only be a heartbreak destined to happen.’ And I started thinking about all those times that I cancelled our plans for practice! I never really asked you how that made you feel-”
“Tobio-”
“What kind of boyfriend does that? The last thing I want to do is hurt you, and if you ever feel alone or unwanted please tell me. Volleyball is-”
“Your life.” You shook him. “Volleyball is your life, Tobio. I could never ask you to drop it for a date. It’s been your past, present, and future. I would kick myself if I stopped you from doing the one thing you love.”
“But I love you too!” He argued back. You blushed but smiled brightly. He doesn’t really know when to say those three words, and yet he always says them in the best of moments.
“I know.” You laughed, “I hope that you won’t give up on me either.”
“That’s such a silly thing to say.” He whispered while pouting and crossing his arms. You grabbed his face again to look at you.
“You don’t have to worry about me running off from you. Trust me, if you ever hurt my feelings you’ll know.”
“How?”
“Oh, you’ll know.” You smirked, “I’ve had to deal with Kuroo and Bokuto’s oblivious mindset, so silent grudges aren’t really my thing.”
“Well, I hope I won’t actually have to deal with that.”
“Oh I’m sure it’ll happen.” You joked and watched him tense up before he realized. “But seriously, you don’t have to worry. I want you to have volleyball, my ego will not bruise. I don’t know if you’ve realized but I’m on top of you in my room. And no one is home.”
He blushed and looked away from your inching mischievous face. He chuckled unexpectedly and pushed his hair back. The chuckle gave you goosebumps, it was foreign to your ears. Kageyama is quite slow and shy with relationships, so this was definitely something new. He turned back, his eyes a little darker than before and his lips turned upwards cynically
“Oh?”
He looked down at your lips and licked his own slowly. You wanted to scream, but all you could do was freeze with the occasional shivers that would go all over your body. He noticed your lack of breathing and how your eyes analyzed everything he started doing. However, you never saw him flipping your position so that he was on top now. He loomed over you and appeared much more grand and it accelerated your heart.
He rested his knee right between your thighs. "I think I need a break from cards, too." You whispered jokingly but the shaky breath you released along with it started a flood.
