She knew where every Eluvian lay. She knew where they each led, the paths between them laid out like a map in her head.
That didn’t mean, however, that she always knew what was waiting on the other side. She did her best to scout ahead, make sure there would be no unpleasant surprises, but even one as careful as her could make a mistake.
She was leading a group of elves through the Emerald Graves to a different mirror, one that would take them to Val Firmin, where the supplies they carried were sorely needed. Food and blankets for the children of the alienage there. Her foot got caught in a rabbit snare, though, and she fell before she could catch herself - rather ungracefully, admittedly, and she looked around as she stood and brushed herself off.
She’d thought this area of the forest was largely untouched, but that was clearly set by someone. And not one of hers. “You go on ahead,” she murmured to her second-in-command for the mission. “I’ll catch up. I want to investigate something...”
