It can actually be painful being part of a small fandom and wanting so badly to be able to find other people to talk about it with. If I have a general question about it or need something explained, or if I like or dislike something enough to expound on it, I'll go to Reddit, but if it's just a quick passing funny or sweet or sad moment, well that's usually not what Reddit is for. Tumblr too, for that matter, unless you're messaging back and forth with someone. And for better or worse, I'm one of those people who's interest in a thing is fueled by either having other enthusiastic people to talk to, or having fanfiction to read, so if I don't, I tend to feel my interest begin to wane.
