I haven't watched all that much of Joel's pov in the life series (only double life) but I gotta say that his character seriously intrigues me.
He feels so unpredictable and volatile, but in a way where it's almost reassuring because at least you know what he's like. Friendships mean more to him than he wants to admit, but at the same time, he's not afraid to sacrifice others for his own gain. He's formidable on red, known for being bloodthirsty and hostile, but also seems desperate to claw his way back up out of his bloodlust. He uses it as a tool to help him achieve his goals- embrace the red until he's settled his scores and is ready to rejoin his group.
He's loud and he's rude and he's not afraid to speak his mind, until it comes to anything soft. He refuses to admit that he actually cares for anyone, because it'll just hurt all the more when he loses them.
