WEATHER REPORT - FIVE OF CUPS. How can we transform our mourning into the beginnings of healing? This card feels appropriate today, since it’s so-called Australia Day, a national holiday that celebrates white colonisation and erases history of genocide of indigenous people. The Five of Cups says we can’t heal our wounds without first being willing to reckon with them. Let’s take a long, hard look at ourselves and our privilege, Australia. It’s time to reckon with the immeasurable harm caused by white invasion, the uncountable lives, languages, histories, traditions, and lands that have been destroyed and continue to be destroyed, denied, and suppressed by colonisation and white supremacy. This country won’t ever move forward without acknowledging its first people’s sovereignty. Let’s stand in solidarity today and demand more of our governments, our communities, and ourselves.
