You know, just a little light reading 💀 . About a year ago, I set a goal for myself to read more books. Grad school had pretty much taken all joy out of picking up a book to read, but I wanted to get back into the habit of reading for pleasure. . So what did I do? I took small steps to build this habit. I picked a book and set it on my nightstand so it was easy to grab. For the first week, I set the goal that every night before bed, I would read at least 1 page (Yes. 1 page. I said small steps, right?) . Once this started to become a ritual, I naturally began to choose to crawl into bed a little earlier so I could read more before I fell asleep (which, for those who know me well, know = lights out before 10 pm 👵🏻) . Now, I read nearly every night before bed, and have started to foster a new habit of reading mindset and "how-to-kick-ass" type books early in the morning to get my day started (tip gleaned from my girl @negharfonooni 😘) . You can't embrace a new habit without taking that first step. And even if it may seem insignificant at the time, small steps are big steps 👟👟 . What is that *one thing* you know you enjoy doing and makes you happy, but never make time for? What is one small step you can take today to start building towards that habit? . . . #habitualhappiness #betterthanbefore #mindfulaf #healthyhabits #happyhabits #smallstepsarebigsteps #6amonasaturday . 📷 @wildblueberrystudio @carorobss (at Tres Gatos)
