Castiel walked into his first hour class Thursday ready to discuss Annabelle Lee. His class, however, was not. As the students trickled in, he could feel the lack of focus the class had. Sighing, he stood up in front of the class.
“Alright, we have a lot to cover today, so if everyone could open their books up now and get their discussion notes out right now that’d be great,” Castiel said.
People began to do as he said, but slowly. The only people who didn’t appear to be like zombies were the girls in the back who were gathered around a phone screen watching something. Cas walked through the rows of desks, weaving his way towards them.
“Girls, please put the phones away. Class is beginning and none of you have gotten out your materials yet,”
“Yes, Mr. Novak,” they all sighed.
As he walked away he heard Kylie say, “I guess we’ll have to wait until lunch to hear Dean finish talking about his never-have-I-ever gotten a speeding ticket,” and Leah respond, “I guess so. I wonder what type of car he has…”
Upon hearing this, Castiel chuckled. They didn’t even know how long of a video that would be.
After first period was over, Castiel realized his lunch was still sitting in the fridge at home. Muttering about his silliness, he quickly texted his husband and asked if he could drop his lunch off at the school. Of course Dean replied right away saying he’d be there at 11:30. Cas didn’t have time to warn him about the abundance of girls who “fangirl” over him, but maybe no one would notice he thought.
Sadly, that was the farthest thing from the truth. When 11:30 rolled around on the clock, Cas was in the middle of dealing with the freshman boys. They just didn’t know how to chill… Or how to not throw food every single lunch. Teachers were beginning to be assigned to just their area that’s how out of control they were. Unfortunately, Cas was positioned there for the lunch period today. He shot Dean a text describing where he was and waited patiently while he tried to teach these menaces some chill. However, he was frazzled and forgot to mention the girls once again.

Dean strolled into the school casually, being greeted by the vice principal. He looked down at his phone rereading where Cas was supposed to be. The directions were easy to follow and he made his way towards Cas. From the top of the stairs, he could see the general outline of his husband. He started weaving through the tables, but as he walked by a table of girls, they immediately recognized him and screamed. Not only did the people surrounding them stop, but also the rest of the lunch room was now fixated on them. People rushed, trying to get The Dean Winchester’s attention. Within seconds people were asking for selfies and offering pens and pieces of homework to be autographed. Even the freshman boys stopped throwing food and got pictures with him.
Of course Dean wanted nothing more than to find Cas, but he also knew that people like these high schoolers were the reason he was even famous. He knew that he couldn’t just ignore them, so he stopped and tried to meet as many possible. He took pictures, scribbled his signature on people’s homework, rapid fire responded to their questions, and it went on.
Over the top of the crowd, he saw a familiar tuft of chocolate brown hair. He made his way towards it, and maybe it was just him, but he was sure it was moving towards him. Dean moved through the crowd slowly, trying to fulfill these kids’ attention and wants.
———————————–
When Cas heard the piercing screams of teenage girls, he knew that Dean was in the building. A huge crowd formed around where he presumed him to be. Amidst the craziness of the high schoolers, he was able to find Dean and start moving towards him. He pushed his way through the crowd, moving towards the eye of the storm of high schoolers. He was just feet away, but tall volleyball girls stood in front of him - There was no way Dean could see him through the starting Varsity middles. He saw them shifting and made a dash through the small hole created and suddenly he was right next to his husband.
“Hey babe, here’s your lunch,” Dean said, grinning as he pressed a light kiss to Castiel’s cheek.
The crowd of students exploded in choruses of “hOLY FUCK DEAN, you’re gay!?” and “MR. NOVAK YOU’RE DATING DEAN FUCKING WINCHESTER!?!?” Upon the yelling, Dean raised a finger to his mouth and told them to quiet down.
Once the crowd was reasonably quiet, he took Castiel’s hand in his and began, “Mr. Novak isn’t dating me….” He paused seeing their confusion and resumed, “He’s married to me,”
If the first time they erupted in chaos was bad, this was ten times more crazy. Students screamed in hysteria, the guys still not over that Mr. Novak was gay, and on top of that, he was married to one of the most famous Youtubers in the world.
A girl from Mr. Novak’s first hour stepped forward and asked, “So is your last name Winchester or Novak, Dean? And why isn’t there a couples challenge video on your channel if you’re married!?”
“Well, if you recall, I never said I was gay on my channel yet, but I’m thinking I might need to change my video for next week,” Dean responded.
The crowd had begun to disperse and Dean and Cas were able to find a secluded niche a few hallways away. They ate their lunch sitting on the floor, enjoying the peace and quiet away from the students. While eating, they reflected upon the events at lunch. Castiel would have to officially come out to the district due to policies and Dean was going to have to come out officially on his YouTube and do the boyfriend tag challenge, which while he didn’t mind it, people in the district Cas teaches for might. Dean, seeing Castiel’s worry, grabbed his hand and whispered, “It’s okay, I got your back… Mr. Novak,”
Glad to see you've discovered candle_beck. Try the podcasts. The characterization, timing, everything is perfect!
Yes, candle beck is amazing. I don’t usually listen to podfics or recorded books because I find it frustratingly slow as compared to my normal reading speed, but I might give these ones a try, thanks! :)
