Last week, we asked a question to the community on Reddit: “Smartdrop VS Airdrop.”

“An airdrop is a one-way distribution of token that directly scatter to a large number of wallet addresses. But Smartdrop is for the users who are involved in on-chain interaction. Nebulas with Atlas Protocol will start the Smartdrop on October 17. It’s the first try for a interactive token airdrop. In the process of Smartdrop, user’s interactive behaviors data will be put on chain and can be checked. What do you think of Airdrop? And what do you think of Smartdrop? We welcome you to give your insights!”

Question： Incentivize for those interact with the blockchain might perhaps increase usage of certain blockchain. But what kind of interaction? More importantly for this model to work, the blockchain have to be ready to use with dapps and everything so the coin actually have purposes other than being used for trading as of for now in most blockchains.

Anwser：Smartdrop allows users to benefit from on-chain interaction advertising ecosystem. In the future, I believe the Atlas Protocol will provide more diverse on-chain interactive advertising products.

Question：I’m all for smartdrops in the future. I know NRank was supposed to consider hodlers as “inactive or not important” to try encourage network use but there really isnt much to interact with for dapps (especially in english). Does anybody interact with any of the dapps, which ones?

Id like to see a smartdrop that considers length of time coins owned even if they didnt use it on much. This would award the long time supporters more than the pump n dump crowd that airdrops can attract.

Answer：As i know, Atlas Protocol has already developed Atlas Smartdrop and applied to airdrop ATP. Compare with the traditional way of airdrop, Atlas Smartdrop requires users to get token by interaction. This is more meaningful as it can encourage users to participate in on-chain interactive advertising.

Question： A smartdrop is much better in my opinion. To bad this smartdrop isn’t much diffrent of an airdrop the only diffrence i see is that i have to claim my tokens and that they doesn’t end in my wallet automatically. A smartdrop like i see it shouldn’t be a 1/1 it should exclude exchanges for a start。

Answer：The claim of tokens is just the simplest example of smartdrop, I believe in the future there will be variety ways of smartdrop. For example, it can be used in on-chain advertising marketing. You can get tokens by interaction, maybe a click or forward an information. The smartdrop makes interaction reflects value. it can be operation very easily and can get benefit, so why not refuse using it?

Question： So this method of advertising will mostly benefit the users, correct?

It is similar to a “pay per click” where advertisers pay content creators for every click on their ad (not pay just how many viewers there are).

But the main difference is the users are rewarded because with ATP, they can own their own data and be paid for sharing their personal data.

Answer：Yes, for example, in traditional internet advertising market, users are excluded from the profit chain of advertising ecological as they can only passively accept.

While for smartdrop, similar to the TCP/IP interaction protocol, users receive airdrops through interaction, as the interaction reflects value, users have opportunity to get incentive by interactive advertising. As you said the form of interaction can include “pay per click” and so on. So Smartdrop allows users to benefit from on-chain interaction advertising ecosystem.

I think airdrop VS smartdrop just like the UDP VS TCP/IP. Compared with the traditional Internet advertising, advertising is a type of information dissemination of UDP. Users are excluded from the profit chain of advertising ecological as they can only passively accept. Question： I think airdrop is better because not all the nebulas holders keep their eyes on nebulas news all the time。

Answer：In my opinion, for the project party, there is no need to give airdrops to all addresses. Most of the projects prove the number of community users by airdrops their token to a certain number of addresses. But we all know that by this centered airdrop, the user number can be fabricated. So the project party refer their community supporters take the initiative to get their airdrop rewards. Thus can make the project party use their token more efficency.

In addition, the active application of is also fairer to the users who really care about the project. From the overall ecology, the token circulation after the airdrop can generate value for the project. If the majority receiver of the airdrops are “silent” users, then the token can not be well circulated.

ATP Smartdrop Applying Process Begins

The applying entrances for ATP Smartdrop has opened on October 17, 2018 (UTC+8).

The Atlas Smartdrop is one of the featured projects of Atlas Protocol. Compared with traditional airdrops, the Atlas Smartdrop achieves on-chain interaction and avoids blind marketing. For the users, the on-chain data is public and transparent, which will protect and benefit the users.

Smartdrop Applying Qualification

To apply ATP, you must have full ownership of the Mainnet NAS addresses.

The Mainnet NAS address used to apply ATP must have contained more than 0 Mainnet NAS at the time of the snapshot which occured on October 15 16:00 (UTC+8).

Smartdrop Applying Methods

Community members with full ownership of their Nebulas Mainnet address (Nebulas addresses start with “n1”) have to confirm their claim via one of the following methods. If you do not have full ownership of the address, you cannot participate in the Smartdrop.

Open NAS nano and you will see the Smartdrop apply button on the home page. Enter your Mainnet NAS address, and submit the ATP application.

Open the official ATP website( atlasp.io), you will then see the ATP applying button on the home page. Enter your Mainnet NAS address, and submit the ATP application.

If you have any problem when you apply for ATP, please send a email to [email protected], and title it as “Smartdrop claim issue”. The email content must include the claim certification(transaction hash).

For the users who hold their Mainnet NAS coin on gate.io, please pay attention to the announcement from gate.io pertaining to the ATP Smartdrop. Other exchanges will not support the ATP Smartdrop.

Who Can Participate in the Smartdrop:

The Nebulas Council will take a blockchain snapshot on 16:00, October 15 (UTC+8), 2018. Only Mainnet NAS coin holders will be able to participate in the Smartdrop and claim ATP.

1. Please make sure that you have full ownership of your Nebulas mainnet address (Nebulas addresses start with “n1”), and more than 0 Mainnet NAS coins are in your mainnet address. You can then participate in the Smartdrop directly.

2. If your Mainnet NAS coins are deposited on exchanges, please review recent announcements of Nebulas and the related exchanges. Currently gate.io supports the ATP Smartdrop. Please stay tuned for more exchanges that will support the smartdrop.

(For the specific rules and requirements of the Smartdrop, please refer to the relevant announcements of the above mentioned exchanges.)

How to Claim ATP:

1. Community members with full ownership of Nebulas mainnet address (Nebulas addresses start with “n1”) will have to confirm their claims via one of the following methods, from October 17 (UTC+8), 2018. Otherwise they cannot participate in the Smartdrop.

1) Enter your Nebulas mainnet address via the appropriate button in NAS nano and apply for the Smartdrop.

2) Enter your Nebulas mainnet address on the claim button of ATP’s official website, and apply for the Smartdrop.

2. For community members who hold Mainnet NAS coins on exchanges: if you deposit your NAS on gate.io, which supports the ATP Smartdrop, please stay tuned for the relevant announcement from gate.io after the snapshot. If you hold NAS on other exchanges besides gate.io, you must transfer your NAS to a participating location supporting the Smartdrop before the snapshot(for participating locations, please review the above section titled “Who can participate in the Smartdrop”).

Smartdrop Ratio:

After users confirm their claims, we ‘ll distribute ATP to them: 1 NAS= 1 ATP

Notice:

1. Only qualified Mainnet NAS coin holders can participate in the ATP Smartdrop. ERC20 NAS token (address starts with “0x”) holders CANNOT participate in the Smartdrop. If your cannot swap your tokens via exchanges, please take your time to swap ERC20 tokens into Mainnet NAS coins through NAS nano (v2.2.0) before 16:00, October 10 (UTC+8), 2018. Otherwise you cannot participate in the Smartdrop.

2. When NAS self-service token swap ends on 16:00, October 10 (UTC+8), 2018, ERC20 token holders can only swap their tokens through exchanges before October 15 (blockchain snapshot time), then can participate in the Smartdrop. If your Mainnet NAS coins are deposited on exchanges which do not support the Smartdrop, then you cannot participate in the Smartdrop.
