SmartThings Hub Internet Reset Switch:
At home, I have a Logitech home companion remote integrated with a Samsung SmartThings hub. The Logitech remote control can be programmed to turn on lights or outlets via the remote through the hub, once installed I immediately wanted to program one of the outlet buttons to reset my internet and associated gadgets. It was at that point I ran into a problem.
My first attempt used a run of the mill hub connected smart switch. I quickly found out that once the router and cable modem were powered off, I could not switch them back on without the internet, Catch-22. So I began looking for a smart switch that could automatically turn itself back on. The Qubino is the answer.
It does require installing a custom handler (found here), but I assume only a sufficiently geeky person would try this in the first place, so this should be no problem.
I installed my Qubino in a project box on the incoming wire of a power strip. The Qubino relay interrupts the line voltage (black) wire and is currently programmed to go down for 60sec when I long-hold the upper outlet button on my Logitech remote. Everything plugged into the power strip is reset without having to get off the couch!
