Snoke is Maz’s ex and he’s destroying the galaxy because she broke his heart a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.

Seriously, when you think about it, it explains EVERYTHING.

She cheated on him with Chewie, that’s why he targeted Ben Solo (also because the Christmas special with Lumpawaroo never existed)

That also explains why she has the lightsaber and why she knows what she knows. 

Plus the Smaz ship ticks all the good boxes: geriatric love is underrepresented in the media since William Adama/Laura Roslin so suck it haters.
