What do you think of our High-Priestess Velara? And please, Ravion, what's his smell like? And finally, of course, Indris?

Everyone in Sal'thorin stinks. More or less.

The dew is DRAGON EGG ESSENCE. RAW. Even if you’re just drinking it, that’s your sweat and everything…ick.

More specifically:

Velara: She probably smells the worst, considering she bathes in the stuff. Granted, she could wear perfume, but I don’t see her really bothering. She’d embrace it and call it a mark of purity. Plus, if everyone smells bad, then no one would really notice it…add a faint trace of a dark magic scent, and bam. Not great.

Ravion: Same case, but I see him absolutely with a whole collection of various colognes and fragrances. He switches them out based on his moods: florals, musks…anything you can think of. Post-EOD, that becomes more prominent as the dew wears out.

Indris: Same deal. I imagine the guards have an agent to remove the scent a bit to avoid being detected, but again, if everyone smells bad, no one is really noticing. It’s the Dark Forest Wilders who mention it first and get him a basic soap that makes him smell clean and fresh (he’s too busy to bother with extra fragrance).

ZANIE! The darling. I bet you can't get machine oil off from her. Do you think she tries with something else, though? Bonus: If it hadn't been answered before: Hugin. :D

I told you I wouldn't abandon these fully!

For Zanie, I totally agree she's got that machine oil permanently ingrained. Combine that with a bit of a musty smell from being underground so long. But, now that she's a representative of the village and living above ground, I think she has a bit of fresh grass mixed in with the smell of oil, plus maybe a smokey scent from working the forge.

Hugin is unique considering he is in 3 separate locations thus far!

When we first meet him, he falls into the category of the rest of the Rustport cast. I know we love these characters, but according to canon, everyone in Rustport stinks of fish prior to the sewer side quest. So when we meet him, he smells like fish and machine oil. Once that gets fixed though, I think it's just machine oil and metal, with a bit of that smokey forge scent!

In Whiteridge, that sticks with him, but it's possible that scent is less pungent simply because of the cold, dry atmosphere not carrying it as much. He would be around the fire more with the weather, so maybe the smoke scent would be heavier.

In Brimstone Village, the machiney-smokey scent is more aromatic again, but mixed with fresh air and also some of the fresh meat and beer that is their specialty! Bonus: Hugin definitely has a different scent he's assigned to each of his tools as their favorite, too.

Yoooo, do we have room for more smelly asks? Because I don't think we know how Court Mage Cyran smells like? xD

I know I took a bit to answer this, but there is ALWAYS room for more smelly asks!

Cyran

With his position as a court mage and high standard of living, along with his youthful appearance, you know Cyran has an extensive and expensive self care routine. I'd say he smells like expensive soaps and cologne. Probably a generic scent, and so subtle that you could never quite identify it...or him.

Hey, hey hey! I wanna request a smelly ask for Memphis and her lil vampire nephew, Fyodor if that's alright? Lemme sprinkle in little lore-piece, Memphis is a nymph. :3

Memphis

Being a nymph and a noble lady, I imagine Memphis has the overall scent of fine perfumes and fragrant florals. Some Sapphirine blossom for sure, but also maybe some other fragrances she acquires (both for herself and from Cyran, of course).

But, when you get closer to her...you might notice a slight hint of a darker, more bittersweet aroma, almost like a decaying flower due to Tartar being in her. It isn't strong enough to make her smell bad, mind you, but enough to draw you in and intoxicate you enough to put you entirely in her power...

Fyodor

Fyodor, my best boy!

Being a vampire, I'd say Fyodor doesn't really have much of any scent to him. But, being a noble, I could see him wearing a bit of cologne. Nothing to audacious or gaudy, since that's not his style, but a faint, softer scent like a light cedarwood.

@aboutmepagehi challenged me to tackle scents for the Project Harbringer characters! I love how creative this universe is, so make sure you all go check out those blogs if you haven't yet! (I didn't get to Soren or some other new characters, but wanted to go ahead and post what I had finished!)

Arlecchino - The "Mad Hatter"/Knave (Berial/Pirin)

I talked about Berial having a banana-ish scent, but since Arlecchino seems much more serious, I don't think he has that. Instead, I could see his wood-scent being more burnt, combined with ash, blood, and smoke.

Florent - The Fair Gentleman (Ludovic/Pirin)

I'm feeling a mix of florals and fire, and possibly even carrion flowers that can smell like decaying flesh.

The Balladeer - The "Missing"/Kuker (Valen/Pirin)

While still having the wood-y scent I think Valen would have, its much more natural and primitive than cologne. Add a bit of hair, dirt, and sweat, and you know you've come across this cryptid.

Magister Zelda

So, with Zelda being from Earth originally and also ancient (with all due respect, of course), I headcanon her smelling like a mixture of blood from her fall and also a perfume made from extinct ingredients! Perhaps a resin scent like benzoin mixed with wynberg conebush? Overall, a scent that you can't really find elsewhere and feels otherworldly...perhaps the only indication of it being Magister Zelda when she's in disguise.

And because there are more... do you think Feli will have had something memorable? As a priest he was probably kept himself well groomed but then, he also snuck around in the wild and interacted with animals... so I kinda feel like he might have some distinct wildlife scent on him. What do you think?

Feli: Also smells like raw dragon eggs. BUT he smells ever so slightly better because of being in the forest so much. Like a kid when they’ve been playing outside. Very mossy undertones since they’re underground, with lots of moisture-affinity plants.
