Places: Smerrol's Tower
Standing atop the Great Climb overlooking the town is a thick tower of black basalt rising to a further height of 150 feet. The base of the tower measures approximately 60 feet across from outer wall to outer wall and the sides slope so that the top of the tower is 40 feet in diameter. The tower is topped by a curious glass-like dome, and the sides of the tower are completely without feature, including any sign of masonry (though many townsfolk remember a time when there were definitely individual blocks). In the last year, a set of steep stone stairs have appeared in the side of the Great Climb, doubling back on themselves again and again until they reach the lip of the cliff and the base of the tower. It is this tiring journey that Sidney Grennan must make every week to work in Smerrol's shop.
