SERVE WITH HUMILITY "I came to serve". For two and a half years, I saw these words behind the coat of the School Prefect at Wesley Girls' High School but they made much more sense to me during my National Service days as a Teaching Assistant. I served under one of the most hardworking lecturers in my department. A book project we worked on comes to mind. For 5 days, I never slept on a bed. The only breaks I had were naps in the chair, a shower and lunch or dinner breaks. The deadline for the project was short and we had to deliver. For a year, I dedicated myself to serve. This Saturday, when I arrived on set for a recording of an interview, I noticed two young men who are part of the production team were students I had taught. This time around, they were not in my class, but I, on their set. I was the student and they, teaching assistant. The tables had turned here. Before we parted, I told them how proud I am of them especially DD, who used to be very troublesome (in a good way) in class. Imagine if I had been rude or mean to them on campus. I don't think we would have shared lovely memories and had a smooth production session. Wherever you find yourself, serve with joy and humility and treat everyone equal. Remember, the people you meet on your way up, are the same people you will meet on your way down. #SMETV #SME #Entrepreneurship
