Colgate Launched Mexico’s First Ad with a Gay Couple

Colgate released its #SmileWithPride campaign in Mexico. The campaign is a heartwarming commercial that features a gay couple, making it the first commercial featuring a gay couple to air in Mexico.

In the commercial, a gay couple is moving into their new apartment together. They are carrying a couch up the stairs when a grandfather and grandson offer to help with the heavy load. The grandfather welcomes the couple to the apartment. At the end of the commercial, a narrator says, “Sometimes you only need a smile.”

The commercial comes at a good time during Pride Month, with Mexico’s Pride on June 23rd to June 28th. Even more, just last month, President Enrique Peña Nieto proposed that Mexico legalize same-sex marriage nationwide.
