entering 2024 by once again trying to finish smtiv. this time by starting over from the very beginning

thinking about my very first smtiv run that i did fully without using any support skills because i didn't understand how they work therefore didn't think them to be very useful. why did i do that

if you finish up all the side quests required for neutral route before getting the chalice from masakado (and therefore unlocking the very last quest you need) the game becomes a psychological horror because the switch from impassive to obsessive adoration in npc conversations is near instantaneous which feels less like "filling people's hearts with hope" and more like "mass psychosis"

fav banter. unfortunately yet to re-encounter the isopod flynn dialogue but the bug one is close enough

i always like to take a pause at this moment because it feels appropriate to think that flynn would hesitate. i know the game treats you like this stoic silent no emotions type of guy and externally maybe that is true but inside i think he was losing his mind

which is also why i find the exchange that happens afterwards (regardless of whether you pick law or chaos) very interesting. it makes sense that they react so strongly (to show the dichtomy of opinions) but the way they judge you is so unsympathetic. as if you didn't just murder your best friend that you grew up with. the entire time at kiccigiorgi they try to act gentle and say kind words and yet when it mattered most they don't even give you a moment to grieve
