+ kairos——sumin&sehun,
A sudden breeze lifted a long set of thick, brunette locks from pale skin. If it hadn't been for the smooth, delicate lining of a face that resembled nothing but a rare porcelain doll, Sehun was sure that he would have averted his attention without a single moment of hesitation. However, his mere view of a luring profile slowly crept into a full fledged sight of Yuko. Sumin. Baek Sumin. Her name had coated his tongue in a bitter taste for years, and until he found that the sun seemed to bounce off of her smooth skin brighter than it had even radiated from above, he had thought his mouth would never be flooded with the sweetness of those very syllables again.
He froze in his place, as if the brisk chill that crept through his winter jacket had finally conquered its mission of turning him into a fixed ice sculpture. A sensation ran down the length of his spine, the feeling of melting ice cubes slowly inching down his thick skin forcing him to swallow thickly. Of course, he had expected this. He knew he would run into her sooner or later, and if not then, one day in the future. That's just how life worked out for him, at least. No matter how many twists and turns he ventured along, he was always trampling right back onto the same paths.
A smile itched to be spread along his face, though he hadn't done so in days. Weeks. Months, maybe. To be frank, he wasn't quite sure of the last time he had flashed his teeth in such a way. Though, the corners of his apricot lips rose just enough for him to know he needed to do something about the fleeting feeling in his chest. The pitter patter. The quick thumping, the lulling throb. It took years to rid himself of her affect she had had on him, and only seconds for him to fall right back under her spell.
His heart only continued to swell as he unconsciously made his way over, only realizing that he had stopped right before her without saying a word for nearly thirty seconds before he snapped back to reality. With trembling fingers, he found himself letting out a low mutter of a curse--the first thing that he had voiced to Sumin since the last time they had met.
"Fuck," he breathed out, clenching his fists tight enough to protrude his knuckles even further out than usual. "Shit." He continued, lifting his free hand to lightly smack his forehead with the butt of his palm. "Jesus, man."
Even after all of the time that had passed between the two, he still found himself speechless in her presence. Though, he didn't feel as if he were alone with her, even as the people who had surrounded her beforehand cleared out of the way once he had opened his mouth to speak. He couldn't blame them. After all, he was a stranger, a tall one with a stern face and heavy bags under a pair of sharp gazing eyes.
But the heavy atmosphere alerted him to remember the reason that the two had gone their separate ways in the first place. Aaron.
