Some say that putting yourself into your work and passions is a good way for magic to happen, and Janice agrees wholeheartedly with that! While other witches have to lug around a giant metal cauldron or search for a nearby pot to work their magic, Janice merely needs to wake up and she has everything she needs! Her perfect workstation is always close at hand, and it is quite easy to travel with! By cooking up some bubbly brews, she can lazily float about with hardly any effort! No need to trudge through the filth and muck to find fresh eyeballs and ripe mushrooms, as she rides comfortably on her own personal raft. To top it all off, she gets to be front and center of every spell and brew she concocts! She doesn't use fire to get her potions bubbling, just the right mixture of ingredients is all she needs, so she has no worry about frying. In fact, her absorbent skin allows her to get a dose of the brews she creates, and it is quite the invigorating experience! Health potions give quite the pleasant feel, while hex fluids cause a wonderfully tingly sensation! The one thing to keep in mind, though, is that the potions she takes in can easily come right back out. Keep a safe distance when she starts talking, as some errant spit might cause your skin to break out into spiders. And also don't squeeze too hard when you shake her hand, as it might get you turned into a frog... -------------------------------------------------- A while ago I saw a post from @bogleech talking about the idea of snail witches, who used their own shells as personal cauldrons. I saw this concept and immediately fell in love with it. With the Halloween season here, I knew I had to do something with it, so here she is! I thought that Janthina janthina was a good inspiration for a snail witch, as bubbles work so well with wicked brews! A part of me thinks that she could be Chrystine's cousin or something, one who cares more about potion making than blacksmithing! Happy Halloween!
Snails are so beautiful and magical- hear me out.
In magic the snail symbolizes:
bridging the gap between the element of Earth and Water, for there are land and sea snails.
the spiral or cycle of life, death, and rebirth, because what’s the first thing we notice on a snail? It’s big spiral shell!
the earth’s rotation around the sun
taking one’s time and enjoying life at a slower pace
Amun - ancient Egyptian ram-god
Tecciztecatl - ancient Aztec god
Fertility, abundance, things coming to fruition
To honor our little snail friends:
Adventurine
Amazonite
Calcite
Mossy Jade
Labradorite
Frankincense
Spruce
Rosewood
Chamomile
Reflect on the cycles of life
Do something relaxing
Honor your ancestors
Pick up litter
Appreciate the little things.
Because they live on land and in the sea, love gardens, and tend to come out in the rain, snails are useful in water, forest, earth, green and animal magic.
I’ve been drawing a lot lately, which is nice and all. But sometimes I need to just push out something quick and simple.
Drawing for hours sometimes just gets me really frustrated.
I doodled a snail witch. Her name is Julian, she's a proud hufflepuff, and she made both her hat and her shell scarf
