Client: Natural History Museum Project: Snail Finder App
Date: June 2015
Skills: Sketching, page layout, app design, illustration
Professor Fred Naggs at the Natural History Museum was asked to make an app to help children, adults and scientist-alike find, identify and generally learn more about the weird world of British land snails. Through a friend (who’s mum worked with Fred, and is also one of Britain’s top snail experts) a group of us banded together to develop a web app to help them out, in our spare time.
Snail Finder (@snailfinder) is a continuing project, built in a series of hackdays and contributions from the team when they can to get Professor Naggs something of which he can be proud. We hope to have it finished soon.
I’ve personally worked on the UX - layouts, flows, IA and most of the hand-drawn illustrations. I’ve also used this project as an opportunity to move my well-buried visual and branding design skills into exploring the UI Design too.
