94) You have the opportunity to sleep with the music-celebrity of your choice. Who would it be?
You know what… it doesn’t matter who I actually think is the sexiest or who I’d want to sleep with the most, I feel some sort of obligation to say Bowie. Like I’d be breaking the rules otherwise or something.
90) One night you wake up because you heard a noise. You turn on the light to find that you are surrounded by MUMMIES. The mummies aren’t really doing anything, they’re just standing around your bed. What do you do?
I’m not sure. Think it is a prank? Leave the room? Call Brendan Fraser? What do mummies actually do, anyway, other than be dead and kinda gross?
91) You accidentally eat some radioactive vegetables. They were good, and what’s even cooler is that they endow you with the super-power of your choice! What is that power?
For the longest time I thought anybody who didn’t choose power over the time-space continuum was an idiot, but one day I started thinking about the ability to manipulate friction and damn that is a good power.
92) You can re-live any point of time in your life. The time-span can only be a half-hour, though. What half-hour of your past would you like to experience again?
Ahhhh… umm. That’s a good question.. There are a number of moments from my travels a few years ago… but the first one that jumps out to me is sitting on a boat in the middle of the ocean in the Whitsunday islands. It was 5 in the morning and a guy I’d hit it off with woke me up and we watched dolphins jumping against the sunrise while everybody below deck slept. It wasn’t a romantic thing; it was more inspirational, like in a coming-of-age movie as the character breaks out of their shell to be rewarded with ridiculously beautiful cinematography. We sat there with Dave, the Aboriginal captain of our little boat, and he told me about how he grew up with the belief that whenever any animal crosses your path, it is a sign of some sort. Then he told a story about how he had gone through an extremely difficult time in his life. He was working on a fishing boat for a number of years after his very young daughter had died of cancer and he’d split up with his wife. One morning, he went up on deck and the entire ocean was singing. An almost obscene amount of sea creatures all seemed to come out at the same time just for him, to tell him something special. I left that boat after a couple of days with a completely refreshed outlook on life and sometimes when I’m feeling down I think about how inspiring that time was.
79) What is the single best decision you have made in your life so far?
That’s really hard, because so much great stuff in my life has been completely up to chance. I wasn’t planning on going to Australia—I was planning on going to the UK but my visa application got completely fucked up and it was quicker just to apply to Aus. If I’d landed one day or even one hour later or earlier, I would have met a completely different set of people and I might not have made any of the friends that I did. I might not be as good a cook as I am now. I wouldn’t have dated that super cute Aussie guy. I might not have rekindled my friendship with a close friend from high school after that falling out a few years prior who BY CHANCE happened to be in Australia the same time as me.
If I hadn’t decided to pick up the guitar when I was 13, my friend Nat might not have picked up the bass to play with me (fuck I’m glad she did, she’s a goddamn amazing musician), I might not have become as close with Ava through playing in a band with her and Nat, and I might never gone to Thanksgiving at her house, and I would have been at a different Halloween party, and I probably wouldn’t be in love with this amazing human male that I somehow tricked into also falling for me. So like. Who knows, right?
76) In your opinion, what makes a great relationship?
Two people who can trust each other to their core to support, understand, communicate, challenge, nurture, and love each other to the best of their abilities. They accept shortcomings and flaws, and balance each other out. They have fun together, but know they can weather more serious times when they arise. Two people who are their own people, but are stronger as a unit, lots of kisses, cuddles, bajingo/boner-licking, so on and so forth.
62) What’s your favorite animal?
A cuddly one that looks really funny when it sleeps. Preferably with its tongue hanging out and in a stupid pose.
51) Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong?
Not really! Maybe for a short period of time, but mostly I just end up more guarded.
45) What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?
I haven’t had many. A couple sprains as a kid. No broken bones. I guess tendonitis from running this summer. It’s only now at a point where I consistently wake up with the ability to walk without limping and I actually feel I can start up again (nearly half a year later!).
41) What was the last book you read?
Not counting textbooks, it’s been a while since I have read a book all the way through. I have a bunch on the go at the moment: Live From New York, The Power of Now, In a Sunburned Country, but the last one I read fully was probably Yes Please by Amy Poehler.
32) What’s the worst place you have ever been to?
Lloydminster. Fuck that place.
