I know this isn't one specific bone but I'm a fan of the ribcage. It's like we have our own armour breastplate inside us lol
That's literally the point, yeah. Gotta protect all your integral squishy bits.

Who is Peter Glassman? None of my physical Oz books have afterwards by him and the versions on gutenberg.org don't either.
Peter Glassman is an Oz and Baum academic. For the Books of Wonder full color reissue of the original novels in the 90s, Glassman wrote the afterwords. He works for Books of Wonder, and organizes many Oz events. His contributions to the Baum Bugle and general Oz preservation is very impressive!
He wrote the afterwords in my personal editions, and I often include commentary from him on this blog. I think his approach to his afterwords strikes a nice middle ground of "deeply knowledgeable" and "simplified for casual readers"
Ruggedo and Kaliko thoughts? The Nomes are so underrated imo
I fucking love Ruggedo, he's so damn unhinged and silly. Kaliko's the MVP for putting up with his nonsense and rightfully calling it out even when Ruggedo pigheadedly refuses to listen.
(I gotta draw these guys as soon as possible hhh)
oh yeah also sucks that Ruggedo's roundness got nerfed but at least Kaliko's design is fun lol
Overall thoughts on TikTok of Oz? I haven't read it in years but I remember really liking it
I found it more humorous overall compared to some prior books? like, poor Tik-Tok often finds himself in very undignified situations like stuck at the bottom of a well, stumbling over after stubbing his toe, needing to be picked up by others. I think being stuck under a giant diamond is the worst lol. the army of Oogaboo and Queen Ann Soforth's failed attempts at invasion and conquest is, well, it's a thing alright. Jo Files is a fun character though.
it's a generally fun book overall, it has its (non Tik-Tok related) stumbles but it's fine, haha.
Quox the dragon is a fun character too. I love weird-looking dragons from this era.
got these images from this archive.org upload of the book. beautiful scans.
I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but I feel like books 8-9 are when Baum really stopped giving a fuck about consistancy lol
Oh I agree! And I think that's 50% him needing cash but caring about other projects while writing them (stage and film) and 50% simply a byproduct of 8-9 being rewrites of existing Oz books/media, irreversibly fucking things up.
