Good morning! Do you have any tips/tricks for bathing a corn snake? I realize snake bathing is a usually not needed thing but like all animals sometimes they do something gross that requires a bath.... maybe just wiping them off is good enough?
Hiyas! The biggest tip for bathing a messy snake is to make it seem like their idea that they had on their own. You can help your snake to feel autonomous and empowered by putting the stopper in your (clean and well-rinsed!) sink and running lukewarm water at a trickle, allowing it to make a puddle in the sink but not cover the entire bottom of the sink. Then place your snake at the edge of the water. Let them noodle around at the edge of the water and you can splash a little water on them if they’re not quite getting clean. Just make sure you’re not splashing their face and the water is just lukewarm. If you’ve got a very messy snake, you can then let them slither through a wet washcloth a few times and get the filth off. Most snakes are pretty good swimmers and can, if they’re showing interest, be allowed to float or slither around in a deeper bath, but make sure they’re not showing any signs of stress like thrashing or trying to escape the water. Usually just belly-deep water is sufficient for clean-making purposes.
I hope you and your snake friend have a splash!
The quality isn't great because I took it through the terrarium glass, but look how cute!!!! First time I've caught her fully submerged
