Headcanon: Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort’s snakes are all female. Several of them are actual biblical demons in snake form (for example, Asmodeus). The reason they all take female form is that the demons recognise Tom’s deeply buried human desire for a connection with a Mother he never knew. Hence they come to him in a female persona, whispering promises of power to the boy on a slippery slope to eternal damnation.

Demislyse ~ egg stolen from Eeylops Owl Emporium

(Modeled on Epicrates cenchria, or the Brazilian Rainbow Boa). The Demislyse is a magical serpent, related to the Demiguise. It can turn itself invisible at will, blending seamlessly into the background of whatever environment it is in. Native to Brazil, it has been studied for centuries by the magizoologists at Castelobruxo. It is considered exceptionally dangerous to wizarding folk due to its large size and tendency to prey on magical creatures, including humans. Once it has struck its victim, it kills via asphyxiation, strangling not only the life out of its victim, but squeezing all magical ability out of them too. It was used for a time by Aurors in Britain to restrain Dark witches and wizards during the time of Grindelwald’s Uprising.
