Sanji’s Temple My take on Steve Lacy’s “Steve Lacy’s Demo” a new funk album that’s just as compassionate as it is independent. I used Sanji as the bodhisattva of compassion and mercy referred to in Japanese as Kanjizai Bosatsu and a couple other names as well. Thinking of sanji’s fiery passion and latterly fiery legs made me look into the temple Sensoji in Asakusa a temple that burned down twice to my knowledge, once I. The 20’s due to the Great Kanto Earthquake and later during WW2 during the bombing raids. Reading into the world war bombings locals would (mostly women and children) would seek shelter inside the temple the bodhisattva would protect them. Today, in the main temple the bodhisattva is not open to public view but is still enshrined.
