This chapter picks up with Narmes asking Sharrkan what he will do now that the former queen and chancellor are out of the picture. With a sympathetic look, Narmes reminds the young prince that with those two gone, it’s no longer necessary for him be untruthful and that he is now free to say what he really feels. He then asks him to tell them his true feelings. Sharkkan replies, saying that he thinks that his older brother is the one that should become the next king. He goes on to say that he already knows that he couldn’t fulfill those duties. He says that he was only doing what his mother told him to and adds that he lacks the qualifications to be the king. King Armakan then asks if this had been his intention from the beginning and points out that it was strange how he had suddenly blurted out that information about the king’s will despite his otherwise silent demeanor. King Armakan then calls Sharrkan “foolish” and says that his actions came too late, to which Ja’far remarked that their country’s problem ultimately resulted in the death of many people. He also says that it’s possible, since the late king’s faction has now lost their power, that the current king’s faction could retaliate and seek retribution. He then mentions that this would put prince Sharrkan in danger. Armakan admits that he too is in the wrong and that if he had only resolved things with the former king’s faction upon taking the throne, then none of this would have happened and then tells Sharrkan that he cannot put the blame solely on him. Cerendine remarks how painfully sad the situation is and Saher agrees. She says that future conflict will continue to arise, just by Sharrkan remaining in his country whether he desires it or not.
Suddenly, Sinbad speaks up and offers a suggestion. He asks how they would feel about the Sindria Trade Company undertaking prince Sharrkan. Everyone is shocked by this sudden proposal, but Sinbad goes on to explain that by listening to their conversation, it’s apparent that the young prince is in a dangerous situation and it would not be wise to allow him to remain in their country. He then says that it would be good if Sharkkan were to become affiliated with “Sinbad of the Seven Seas Alliance”. He goes on to explain that he already has either a member of the royal family or dignitary from each of the countries associated with the alliance and so in a sense, it might even be the safest place in the world for the young prince. King Armakan agrees with Sinbad that if Sharrkan were to stay in their country, it would only cause another conflict and says that there is nothing wrong with his proposal, but that it’s almost as if Sharrkan would become Sinbad’s hostage. Sinbad simply laughs and denies this remark. Finally, after thinking about it for a minute, king Armakan agrees to Sinbad’s request and says that he is entrusting his little brother to him as proof of their alliance. Upon hearing this, little Sharrkan begins to tear up and calls out to his brother. King Armakan then turns to him and tells him to listen carefully. He tells him that with the way Heliohapt is at the moment, his presence would only be a hindrance. He then says that if Sharrkan were to grow and gain power, and he himself were to remain in Heliohapt and pacify the country, then there wouldn’t be any problems. Finally, he tells him to one day return to their country.
After some time, Sinbad’s group begins to depart from Heliohapt. As they are leaving, king Armakan tells Sinbad that he is counting on him to take care of his foolish little brother and Sinbad says that he understands. Then, as the group departs with Sharrkan in tears, king Amrakan is asked by one of his attendants if he was sure of his decision. He replies that there was no problem with Sinbad’s proposal, but that he finds Sinbad himself to be a bit difficult to deal with. He says that their situation was very convenient for him and wonders just how much of it Sinbad had planned for. Narmes then realizes that they may have just involved themselves with a very dangerous man. King Armakan then swiftly changes then subject and tells Narmes to inform him if anymore dungeons appear. Narmes, shocked, asks if he intends to try and capture one. The king confirms this and states that from now on, they will not be able to continue to survive in their world without a metal vessel. He finishes by stating that the world will change at a rapid pace, and that it is necessary that he gain more power.
The scene then shifts back to Sinbad and his group, where Sinbad seems to be comforting Sharkkan, who is still crying. He then thinks to himself that things turned out well and that he now has everything he needs. Finally, he exclaims that they are now departing for the Dark Continent!
And that is all for this weeks chapter. Oh wow, I really enjoyed this one! Although I’m sad that we had to say goodbye to Armakan and Heliohapt, I really enjoyed those sweet brotherly moments and just being able to see so much emotion flood into poor little oppressed Sharrkan. And the way he left with Sinbad was just too sad… ;A; I really hope he cheers up soon as we enter into the dark continent. Also, with that last scene, I can really tell how much Sinbad has already changed from when he first began his journey. Back then, it was more about just exploring and meeting new friends. But it seems as though he has become a lot more calculating recently. When Armakan wondered if he had been planning these things all along, I thought back to when he first saw Sharrkan and stared at him. He probably thought that he would somehow get him to join him before he left, and look what happened! He is a scary man indeed… O_o
