Hidden amongst the rolling hills and Redwood trees of the North Bay, exists one of California's most eclectic art coalitions; The Sandbox Collective. Dabbling in everything from instrumental beats to graphic design the SNDBX (as its often abbreviated) is consistently creating enlightening aesthetic experiences.
Founded by Healdsburg beat maker/musician BLÄP DËLI, the collective has expanded to include a diverse array of talent. BARS IMPSON is an emcee/vocalist who has been blessed with a smooth voice and an unmistakable flow. His swagger is unmatchable as he draws listeners into his world. DRI, the collective's soul vocalist, has profound melodic abilities and a voice that weakens the knees. Trained in jazz, her vocal textures remain timeless. TONY MANFRE is renown for (but never limited to) his use of analog gear. Syncing samplers, drum machines, and keyboards like an electric wizard, Tony creates warm, layered, beat loops. IAN SHOOP is the collective's eccentric musician, inspired mainly by acoustic instrumentation, real-time programming, and live performance. WOODBLOK is the founding emcee of the SNDBX, and the brother of Bläp. He delivers punchlines and crafts wordplay that reminds listeners why they fell in love with Hip-hop. SUBTLE T is the most introspective emcee of the crew. His sighting is rare, but when he is featured, he's sure to blow listeners away with his charm and wit. Finally there exists LIFTED AQUATIC, the beat scientist. He develops off-kilter, snappy rhythms and is known for playing the jazziest of piano riffs.
Bläp Dëli is the brains of the SNDBX Collective. He has an ability to draw people together and inspire artistic expression. Keeping the Collective focused and moving forward, Bläp never takes his eyes off the prize. He has developed a signature sound and beat style, combining exotic soundscapes, with heavy, percussion driven tracks. Able to pick up and play any instrument, this "beatsmyth" truly has no limitations.
The Sandbox Collective regularly performs live around the Bay Area and consistently releases digital/physical projects. They are the sound of the future and the musical voice of our generation. Stay tuned and check out their webpage for the latest releases and activities.
