Lately, every time I see a little bird or a cute rat i feel the need to put it in my mouth and bite down. I suppose this is some sort of hunter's instinct kicking in. As much as I absolutely yearn for the feeling of killing my prey with my teeth and claws, it isn't exactly a helpful feeling to have- killing cute little creatures is kind of frowned upon by humans, y'know. I know that much because of how upset everybody in the house becomes when Sunflower brings us his dead prey.
While I praise him for his impressive catches (which are often twice the size of his head), everyone else shouts and yells at him. I've even been tasked with picking up & discarding the limp birds and rats before. It typically fills me with an obscure jealousy. I wish I could hunt alongside him, we'd probably be absolutely unstoppable.
I've always wished I could hunt with Sunflower and hang out with him more. He's really the closest to me, he feels like family. I enjoy laying around with him and communicating with nothing more than a few blinks.
I do find myself blinking at humans the same way I do with my cat friends more often than not. As you can imagine, it gets awkward when most humans assume I'm either falling asleep or have dry eyes or some other third thing. I end up blinking at people instead of saying "hello" or "thank you". Oh I'm going to be so incredibly fucked when I finally get a job.
