I like to think Clockwork is a sniper and Jane is her spotter. They also have a little bit of a situationship, not really a couple but not really just friends. When you're a sniper, you've got a lot of time to talk while waiting for your target if you set up early. They get drinks after the job is done and unwind a bit before they need to study the next target
Before you say Jane has a wife, in my headcanon Jeff killed her wife bc Jane kept getting in the way of Jeff's kills and that's why the relationship with Clockwork is so rocky. Jane is conflicted with her feelings for Clockwork and Clockwork reminds Jane of her wife. Jane doesn't want to move on from her wife, but knows all she can do is "move on", even if she doesn't want to. She also doesn't want to hurt Clockwork or lose her, so she keeps her at a slight distance. She also still wears her wedding ring, her wife's ring on a necklace around her neck
