October 22, 1719 - Reward For Information Regarding Mass Deer-Poaching
Whereas on the 10th Day of this Inst. October, at 3 a Clock in the Afternoon, about 30 Persons arm’d and disguis’d, came (in open Defiance of the Civil Power) into Mr. Turnour’s Park in Sussex, commonly call’d Shillingly Park, and kill’d and carry’d away 3 Brace and a half of Deer; besides several more then shot and wounded, which have been since found dead. Whoever will discover 3 or more of the Persons concern’d in this Robbery, so as they may be apprehended and brought to Justice, shall immediately after their Conviction be paid as a Reward 100l. And if any one who was assisting in this Riot and Robbery, will make the abovemention’d Discovery, he shall not only be forgiven his Offence, but receive the Reward of a Hundred Pounds, assoon [sic] as they are convicted, to be paid by me, Arthur Turnour
