OKAY so there is DEFINITELY going to be some bias from me for the weirdest things because what I find weirdest might not be what someone else does but anyway!
Magic exists. I'm not talking about Chaos energy or the Emeralds, I mean proper wizard magic. Tails' uncle is a mage and is named Merlin, for crying out loud!
So Robotnik died in issue 50, but there's a LOT of Zones in Archie. Lots of different dimensions, including Blaze's world and the anti/evil world where Scourge comes from! There's a Zone out there where Robotnik roboticized himself and won. He's called Robo-Robotnik. He goes into the Prime Zone (where our main Sonic is from, where most of the story takes place) and replaces the dead Robotnik. Important fact, he has the ability to roboticize anyone by simply touching them! Except they pretty much turn into a statue. According to him, if someone WANTS to get roboticized, they'll retain their free will and movement ability. So he convinces Snively to become a robot with this, and it works (issue 105.)
Some time down the line (issue 118,) Sonic, Tails, Robo-Robotnik, and Snively are all transported into a test combat field, run by the Bem (an alien race.) Their states are swapped - Robo-Robotnik and Snively are turned flesh and blood, while Sonic and Tails are turned into robots. They're told to fight each other, and the winners will be reverted back to their previous state while the losers stay swapped. Sonic and Tails win, and get turned back into non-robot Mobians, and Robo-Robotnik and Snively stay flesh and blood. It's at this point that Robo-Robotnik is now stuck in the classic Eggman look we're all familiar with!
TL;DR Robotnik fucking died and got replaced by another version of himself that roboticized himself but got de-roboticized by aliens and is now Eggman
Honorable mention is that arc where the main cast went to actual school
E.V.E., no competition. Her name stands for Exceptionally Versatile Evolvanoid, and she pretty much looks like a brain made of pixels with huge eyes and a mouth plastered onto the front, and then just… tentacles? tendrils? She looks like if Tentacruel was digital (I'm so sorry Tentacruel fans)
