Attack on Titan is the story of 3 people. 3 very different yet connected by fate people, who represent 3 different concepts.

Pride. Hope. Rage.

As we know, the final conclusion of main characters’ development happens in the last arc of any story.

In the story, Armin represents hope. A very broad term that everyone can understand in their own way. Armin always believed people and tried to see good in them. He knows that people are flawed, but yet he continues to believe in others goodness. Even in the situation with Annie, who was distant and “bad”, Armin still approached her and believed that she is a better person than what she presents to be.

Yes, he is a sinner too. A “bad” person according to some moral standards, but Armin always tries to reach people and problems with kindness and ease. His intelligence doesn’t simply come from his erudition, but his diplomatic abilities as well.

Chapter 137 was truly Armin’s time to shine. He really did save the humanity by a very “weak” strategy, talking. He didn’t fight Zeke or physically reached Ymir or Eren. He just expressed his idea. Armin peacefully showed Zeke that life is beautiful and filled with precious memories, and made him his ally.

Mikasa, on the other hand, is prideful. She knows her own worth as well as others’ and has respect for people around her. She values life the most, because she has experienced how it feels like to be threatened. Even in the worst situation, Mikasa still chooses to fight.

If we lose, we die

If we win, we live

We can’t win if we don’t fight

Fight. Fight.

Now, it’s Mikasa’s time to prove that she is more than “yandere Eren simp” (even tho she has never been like that) by bringing Eren back. During the final arcs Mikasa learned to let Eren go and accepted his cruel side. Yes, she was in denial at first, but did she turn her back from Eren? Absolutely not. She understood that Eren can be both cold-blooded and vulnerable at the same time, because he is still an imperfect human filled with rage.

As I said in my other post (about killing Eren), Mikasa’s (and others’) choices will lead her to save Eren from his own cruelty and rage. I can’t predict the exact events that will happen in ch.138 yet, but I surely know that Mikasa will get to be Eren’s savior as he was hers 10 years ago.

Something I just realized: Eren wasn’t lying when he said he always cared for freedom in the sense that he fought against oppressors. People were saying that’s a lie because it was Armin who got him so hyped up about going outside the Walls. While that’s true, Eren had already known Armin for some time back then. Meaning, prior to that, he was already fighting bullies (still not sure if at that point, he’d already rescued Mikasa or not). Armin was just the one to make him realize that their society itself was robbing them of a greater sense of freedom.
