SNK Readthrough: Volume 7 Part 7

I've decided to make this final readthrough of Volume 7 one long master post about Levi.

Anyone who thinks that he is unfeeling, remote, or hardhearted should look closely at this chapter. They will find a man who is caring, thoughtful and profoundly touched by the sadness of others.

    1. Levi Says Goodbye

On his way to rescue Eren, Levi passes the bodies of his squad. He allows himself a moment to mourn as he pauses at Petra's remains.

Forgive me, Hange! For one brief moment, I started to ship Levi x Petra

    2. Levi Saves Mikasa

Mikasa is reckless in her attack against the Female Titan. Levi saves her from a crushing blow, and then assures her that they are in this together.

"I'm with you", he says, "But back off for now."

Oh Hange, I'm complete trash. For just for a moment I started to ship Levimika

    3. A "Familar" Reunion

Levi recognizes Mikasa from Eren's trial. Remember, she was introduced as "Mikasa Ackerman". Since they share a surname, Levi is no doubt curious about their connection. Despite her anger at him, he treats her respectfully and even kindly.

    4. Levi Saves Eren

Levi it truly unstoppable. He incapacitates the Female Titan, protects Mikasa, and rescues Eren in one long swoop from his 3DMG. Eren is filthy and covered in slime, yet Levi maintains a firm grip as he flies him to safety.

    5. Levi Comforts Mikasa

Aware of Mikasa's strong feelings for Eren, Levi immediately calms her fears by letting her know the Eren is still alive.

    6. Levi is Surprised by the Female Titans Tears

But, honestly, weren't we all?

    7. Levi Faces Petra's Father

Petra's father doesn't see her as the soldier's return. His nervousness is evident as he approached Levi to "thank him" for taking care of her. Petra's father knows she's gone, but is trying to convince himself otherwise. How can you begin to describe Levi in the panel below? Horrified, anguished, devastated? Pick one. They are all good.

    And Lastly

This is me, upset by my momentary disloyalty to LeviHan, and simply heartbroken by the events of Chapter 30.

    Volume 8 starts tomorrow!
