Happy stuffing yourself day guys. I'm pairing my Thanksgiving desserts with the 2009 Château Dauphne Rondillion from Louiac. I was lucky enough to get a package of Bordeaux dessert wines to talk about from Snooth Media, and I am especially excited to imbibe this rich golden vintage. Murrieta’s Well 2018 Dry Orange Muscat: Sourced from the estate’s Hayes vineyard, this medium-bodied wine is energetic, dry in style, and quite fragrant. It boasts compelling aromas of white flowers and exotic perfume that merge with bright flavors of citrus and white pitted fruit on the palate. A wonderful balance of fruit and acidity makes for a lively, refreshing wine that’s great with food. My favorite wine of the @snoothmedia sponsored tasting of @murrietaswell vintages was the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was a pre-release preview. I normally do not like California Cabernet at all; I find them generally to be too brusque, masculine, and inelegant. The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from Murietta's Well was completely the opposite of that. This was an elegant, balanced, well-structured and sophisticated vintage--sort of like a well dressed professor in tweed. Notes of olives and Connecticut shadegrown tobacco wrapper intermingle in this wine with earth, vanilla, cassis, and blackberry. It is, I think, a wine well suited for a New York strip steak and a nice cigar. I was deeply impressed. Third up for the @snoothmedia sponsored tasting of wines from @murrietaswell was their 2016 Dry Rosé. This was a well-structured, high acidity savorfest blend of 42% Grenache (farmed specifically for rosé), 39% Counoise, and 19% Mourvèdre. Watermelon notes imparted by the Counoise were especially prominant.
